How does Values and Morals Transform Our Life Toward Divinity?

Dr. Jakir Hossain ;Laskar, PhD

All of us have been through a meeting with our inner self or what some call the spirit; the part of us that has our thoughts and feelings, that engages with values and morals. If values and morals serve as anchors then missing them causes one to be adrift and lost in a materialistic view of the world where one’s ego serves as the chief driver. Let’s take a step back and explain this transformation process in detail by illustrating it with relevant examples The Transformation process one undergoes through is indeed truly fascinating.

  1. Getting in sync with the Universal Law

Values and morals are internal impulses that allow us to exist and respect the divine principal which is truth, love and harmony.

Example: Hence the lesson that Mahatma Gandhi spread for non-violence or Ahimsa is in line with the teachings of love for all. This not only saves one from cause loss to others but helps strengthen the principles of love and peace within oneself.

  1. Cleansing of Mind and Heart

Living with moral virtue and faith has a tendency of eliminating greed, jealousy and hatred making the mind and heart more amenable to receive divine energy

Example: People that believe in forgiveness rather than revenge are less aggressive and more optimistic; this allows people to look for help from their inner selves and essentially creates a confidence and optimistic environment.

Real-life Application: The life of Mother Teresa gives us practical perspective on how to walk on a moral virtuous path. Her love for the poor settled her heart, so she became an instrument of love and service through which light could shine.

  1. Increased Self-Awareness

Values are important as they inspire reflection and enable one to go beyond the self which leads to the awakening of such individuals.

Example: An honest student avoids cheating during exams because they deem the moral insight more important than anything they might obtain. Eventually, this awareness builds up their inbuilt sense of the truth as an attribute of God.

  1. Karma and Spiritual Progression

Traits or xctions that have morals behind them produce good karma and in turn helps in the acceleration of spiritual growth.

Example: A businessman who runs an ethical enterprise by ensuring fair wages and sustainable practices builds positive karma. This energy brings not just physical success but also happiness in relation to the inner connecting forces of a higher purpose(s).

  1. Improved Relations

Empathy, respect, patients and other such values have a positive impact on our relations thus creating a sensation of togetherness amongst us which is also divinity.

Example: A family member who is angry during conflicts instead of being calm during such times makes it harder for the family to bond. Such concord depicts the divine nature of oneness and love.

  1. Spirit Over Materialism

Ethics and morals prevent us from putting focus on temporary material pleasures and advocating for greater ideas.

Example: The person who donates to a charity rather than satisfy their own desires for luxurious things possesses the self-desire overpowering quality of generosity. This very act is filled with a sense of oneness with the divine and a concern for others.

  1. Path to Inner Peace

An existence that is based on values lessens the number of inner struggles and regrets that one may have, thus helping to create a mind that is calm that is an ideal state for one to establish a connection with the divine.

Example: A young employee believes that working on a project in an ethical manner without cheating, even though there are instructions to do so, is a great form of accomplishment and peace. Such integrity is a quality of one’s inner self that smoothens their life and their chances of spiritual existence.

  1. Becoming a Vessel for Divinity

When we practice values such as love, compassion and humility, we are more than just human beings; we are turned into divine creatures by inspiring others.

Example: Every student in a class is treated the same by a teacher. Such teachers motivate and inspire children because of their fair and loving nature which is a reflection of the supreme being in them.

Practical Examples in Daily Life

a. The Value of Truth (Satyam)

Situation: I am framed as the one concealing a fault of a friend at the workplace. I clear the mess and accept the accountability rather than provide a cover by lying.

Conversion: Aidan, truths improves the level of trust and confidence people have in you which in turn results in gaining divine intelligence.

b. The tenets of compassion

Scenario: Extending a helping hand to an anonymous individual, for instance, feeding a hungry person, is an act of kindness.

Transformation: Kind acts elicit feelings of compassion and appreciation for interconnectedness and the feeling of being one with the divine.

c. Gratitude as a blessing

Scenario: A person begins his day with a sense of appreciation for mundane phenomena which together include a house, food, and health.

Transformation: The appreciation of the abundance narrows the emphasis on the scarcity through a feeling ‘this is how life should be’ and feels joyful.

Conclusion: ‘Moral Values’ in Real Life

Values and morals are not scattered in the air; they are the static of a life irrespective of conscious intent or efforts. It is through deliberate effort in day to day contexts that these values are acquired and then integrated into her thoughts, feelings and behaviors. They enhance our character, give us a sense of identification with our innermost centers and bring forth divinity around and through us.

The path of living through values is not easy always, but it is certainly worthwhile. Each small step makes us closer to the divine which is within us and helps us project that in the world outside.
